Peru is one of the places in the world which is supposed to attract physic energy from theearth. This is not a fact - it cannot be proven scientifically. But the country and the people can be very atmospheric, considering the popularity of magic and spiritism.

I suppose it is not a coincidence that new age tourists from all over the world visit Peru to gather atmospheric energy.

There is Pachamama, Mother Earth, which is considered to be an important source of energy with healing power. Incas of ancient Peru believed that Pachamama personified the Earth. Incas ruled Peru from about 1450 until 1532 when Spaniards conquered their territories. Pachamama and her husband Inti, the Sun-god, were viewed as generous deities. Incas used to offer llamas and other animals as sacrifices to the earth goddess. According to an ancient legend, the first Incas had sacrificed a llama before entering their capital Cuzco. Pachamama continues to be worshipped today in Peru, where she has also been identified with the Virgin Mary by Indian catholics.

Although a vast majority of the people is Roman Catholic, witchcraft is very popular and widespread. People succeed in combining the two religions. Just like there are fruitmarkets, there are witchcraft markets selling magic potions and herbs. And just like there are doctors, you can consult so-called brujos or curanderos, in a more respectful word: metaphysical therapists. Good curanderos use the healing power of Pachamama, the spiritual energy of the earth to cure their patients. And unlike normal doctors, they also treat more complex diseases, like love sickness, bad luck or problems of the soul.

This enormous paved square, occupies the site of the ceremonial center of Mexico-Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire.
Today is the largest public square in the Western Hemisphere, and the third one in the world (after the Tiananmen Square in the center of Beijing and the Red Square in Moscow).

Every day at either 6:00 AM or 6:00 PM the Army has the ceremony of the raising and lowering of the Mexican flag in the center of the square.

If you don't know were to go at night in Negril ask somebody at evening or just start walking in the sand and follow the reggae beat! There are concerts, dancehalls and reggae clash in the beach every night. The DJ plays the last dancehall hits and people goes crazy danzing.

Ackee and saltfish is a traditional Jamaican dish. It is also Jamaica's National Dish.

INGREDIENTS :
1/2 lb. Saltfish (codfish)
1 dozen ackees
1 small onion
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 sprig tyme
1 crushed garlic or 2 teaspoons garlic powder
3 slices hot scotch bonnet pepper
1 small red sweet pepper

METHOD:
Soak saltfish in water to remove some of the salt or boil in water for 5-7 minutes.
Clean the ackee. Remove the seeds and all traces of interior red pit from the ackees.
Wash ackees five times
Cover and boil until moderately soft.
Drain, cover, and put aside.
Pick up (flake) the saltfish and remove all bones.
Sauté thinly sliced onions and sweet pepper rings.
Remove half of the fried onions and peppers
Add saltfish and the ackees, and turn the fire/stove up slightly.
Add black pepper
Pour in to serving plate and garnish with remaining onions and pepper slices
Serve with boil banana and/or fried dumplings

Long Bay Beach, Negril's powdery white beach is Jamaica's most famous and among the best in the entire Caribbean. The sand slopes gently into a placid sea with waters so warm it feels like a saltwater jacuzzi.

Marijuana use is the island's biggest open secret, Ganja is viewed with differing degrees of severity in Jamaican society, but it's still officially illegal.
Marijuana plant was brought here by indentured servants from India in the mid-19th century. Revered by them as a medicinal and sacred plant, and referred to by the British as "Indian hemp". Legislation against its use quickly followed-not for moral or ethical reasons, but because it was bad for business!

Popular lore claims that the most prolific seedlings are raised in Jamaica's red, bauxite-rich soil and nurtured with all-organic fertilizers such as bat dung or goat droppings. The Jamaica claim it as the best Sensimilla! However, the Jamaican police periodically raid fields and destroy the crop by burning it or spraying it with herbicide.

Pelican Bar, a hut erected on a shoal three quarters of a mile at sea - completely original - is the brainchild of Delroy Forbes aka Flyd, a fisherman from the remote seaside village of Parottee.

Was constructed in 2001 on a sand bar off the south coast of Jamaica at Parottee Point, which is between Treasure Beach and Black River. It is approximately 20minutes by boat from the shore and is surrounded by water.

Pelican Bar is the ultimate spot to hang with a Red Stripe, an excellent place for a morning snorkel and Flyd will cook lunch if it is prearranged.

Built by hauling 2-3 boards at a time from the coast on local fishing boats, the bar consists of two structures, the main bar and storage shed (pictured).

The name Black River refers to the darkness of the river bed caused by thick layers of decomposing vegetation. Its source is in Cockpit Country where it runs underground before emerging north of Siloah on the southern fringe Cockpits.

The Lower Morass consists of shallow estuaries, marshland and mangrove swamps providing a rich ecological environment fora broad range of fish, birds and other creatures including lobsters, mangrove snappers, snook and mullet. Saltwater crocodiles inhabit the swamps.
